More than a glimpse

Many people are capable of making mistakes. We all have fallen short of one goal or another. We have done things we instantly regret. Unfortunately in our society especially in this day and age the negative mistakes are highlighted and all the good is forgotten. It is time for people to change that.

My husband made a mistake. I however want to paint a broader picture.

Delaena Kalevor and I met on a dating website. He and I went to lunch for our first date; followed by corona Del Mar beach to watch the sunset; capped off by a movie back at his place. That whole evening he didn’t even try to hold my hand. At the end of the night he said he wanted to see me the next day (all women know men rarely do that) and we watched another movie. My point is we didn’t even kiss for the first 2 weeks of our dating life.

As our relationship grew, he text messaged me every morning, he still does this when he goes out of town for business. He met both of my parents. He took them out separately, and treated them to dinner for their birthdays. He was so honored to meet my parents. Since then he always speaks to them whenever I call them.

When we got engaged, he let me design my ring. I picked the jeweler, the stone, the set, and made last minute changes. When we got married he paid for the entire wedding. My parents we battling health issues, and he took care of everything. He did the same thing with our baby shower.

Nothing brings joy to my husband like his son does. He holds him every morning when he’s working from home. He is the one who gets the now picky 13 month old to eat dinner. When I feel exhausted he holds him so I can sleep. He does not lose his patience with him and he doesn’t yell or curse around him.

When we relocated from Southern California to Dayton Ohio, he let me choose the house I wanted to live in. He let me choose the furniture and appliances, without a strict budget. Additionally, he works hard so that I can stay at home with our baby because daycare is expensive. He loves his job so for him it’s an awesome deal.

Over the holidays I missed my family. He flew my mom to Dayton so that I could see her. He is also flying my brother out to visit in the spring. He doing this so that I won’t be so homesick and sad. It was his idea. I cried because I didn’t realize that he felt my heartache.

These are all snapshots of who he is. There are so many more things he does. He’s generous and supportive of all our family. He doesn’t judge people negatively. He’s opposite of me in that respect. He loves his job he sings his colleagues praises daily. He’s a kind man who is always appreciative for his life and his family and, he made a mistake.

A persons mistake can be reported in real time online and on television. A persons life can be changed forever with a single viral post. However, that snap shot of someone does not tell their whole life; it only highlights a single moment. Not everyone is justly represented in a single moment.

Delaena Kalevor is a good man. He is a kind and loving daddy. He is a sweet and supportive husband and I forgive him.
